Gabriel’s Story

Site created on June 3, 2021

Gabriel Tauscher our friend. A Marine veteran turned security contractor. Gabe was born in Paraguay, and adopted by the Tauschers when he was about two years old. He grew up in Wisconsin, attending Stone Bank school, then Arrowhead Highschool. Shortly after graduation, he joined the Marines. He served a tour overseas during Operation Enduring Freedom. After he left the Corps, he worked in restaurants for a short time. He soon found his passion as a security contractor, protecting people and places all over the country. He did a lot of his work doing hurricane relief over the years. Most recently he worked in Minneapolis during the protests last year, then again during the Derek Chauvin trial. Shortly after, when returning to Minneapolis to visit his girlfriend, he was attacked by a coward and shot many times. Miraculously, his life was saved. He made it to the trauma center within a half hour, and after many hours of surgery, is alive. However, there is a very long journey ahead. He still has more surgeries as well as months/ years of rehabilitation.

Gabe is loved by so many people. We are all hurting and worrying for our Gabe. This site is a place for us to talk about Gabe and what he means to us. It will also hopefully be a hub for his family if they need help or a little hope. I hope if you are visiting this site, you will leave a message. A story of Gabe, a prayer for his recovery, or a note for him and his family. I will keep posting updates about Gabe's condition as I get them.

Thank you all.

Newest Update

Journal entry by samuel godar

2 nursing staff.
4 hours.

That's what it takes to complete daily wound care.  One of the nurses referenced 20 combined entry and exit wounds. That means several bullets passed through body parts before lodging into another part.  Gabe has had 4 or 5 surgeries (I am foggy about the exact number) and 2 procedures.  He is alive with perfectly healthy untouched spine and brain.

I am so very thankful for the good stuff including your positive thoughts and prayers.

Today, Gabe playfully teased the nurses with facial expressions.  He was able to communicate his needs using eye gaze, mouthing words,  nodding yes, shaking no to questions.

The lab identified an effective antibiotic to treat the respitorary bacterial infection that is responsible for a fever that fluctuates between 100 and 104.   Respiratory therapy is  rebuilding diaphram strength to allow Gabe to breathe independently.

Please keep your thoughts, prayers and friendship activity directed at Gabe's recovery because it is working!

Thank you ❤
