Newest Update

Journal entry by Jennifer McAvoy

It’s been awhile since my last update. Fred being home was just what our family needed. Life at the McAvoys was on hold for quite some time but things are graduating nicely to a new normal. The kids have been great with Their Dad- helpful, messy, and loud as per usual.

Fred continues to get stronger and gaining back his independence. He no longer uses the wheelchair at home, just his cane and leg brace. He goes to therapy 3 days a week for PT, OT, and speech and has his own home routine that he works on in between. He can itch his nose with his right hand, but still can’t quite get his hat on with it. The right foot is moving in small ways and he can now tap it on the ground if he really concentrates.  I’m so proud of his efforts and hard work.

Medically things continue to check out well/normal He still isn’t up for phone conversations or visitors but he definitely reads all the well wishes and messages from you all. I think that’s just as well with this darn Covid.

Today will be my first day back to work. I’m nervous and excited to get back to work just one day a week for now.
We are so thankful for all the continued prayers, love, and support. It’s what makes this all possible 💕
