Journal entry by Janene Larson

Daddy is doing great..well he is a little bored and wants to ride his bike but otherwise he is good.  He has 10 radiation treatments left.  It’s just something he does and other than being a little more sleepy and a loss of appetite he is doing pretty good.  He eats according to his watch.

He really enjoys and looks forward to visits with friends and luncheons and Kari and I always take him on “field trips”.   We both feel so fortunate to be available just about every day to hang with him.  It’s good timing.

I am in such admiration and have such respect for my dad‘s very positive attitude. He does not expect to feel bad and he does not feel bad. Coincidence? He’s looking forward to getting through radiation and having a month off.

He really loved his visit last week with my aunt Marcie and uncle Dave and he enjoys all the visits from Fred and Gudren, and John and Ruth and others.  Tomorrow he has his geezers lunch and a monthly Anglers dinner that he just loves so much. It really lifts his spirits.

Today we took a drive through wine country and stopped at the Evergreen aviation museum where my dad walked on the moon. Of course he did.  I sat in the backseat and Tim and my dad did all the talking about hunting and fishing and all the things they love to do together. We all recharge on the weekends and our cups were full at the end of the day.

Things are good.  We watched an interview on CBS Sunday Morning  on Olivia Newton John who is battling her third round of cancer and she said this, ““It’s a decision how you feel about something”.  I love that and daddy and I agreed. We are grateful and live in today with a positive outlook.

Thank you for thinking about my dad and keeping positive thoughts in his environment.
