Newest Update

Journal entry by Barb Lovitch

Aaron’s scan showed that he has a liver problem and enlarged spleen.  I have to call tomorrow to get an appointment with the liver specialist.  He only had one liver test that was elevated and it was not even elevated much.  Google NASH and Non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver for info on the disease.  In the US 80-100 million have fatty liver disease.  It is the Hep C crisis of our generation.  The issue is that you have no signs that you have it, like pancreatic cancer, until it is advanced and scarring in the liver has occurred.  If the liver has too much scar tissue and cannot function then you need a liver transplant.  Let’s hope we do not go there.  Frank has a scan next month and chest x-ray to monitor the kidney cancer that was removed and the other list of cancers to check for Mets to other sites.  He is doing better but is home most of the time.  Will update after the visit with the liver doctor.

I was in my bathroom last Friday and did a slow crump to the floor.  Braced myself I guess with my left hand, hyperextending it.  I wrapped it, iced and elevated.  Sunday I went to the Ortho Clinic and had it x-rayed. I have two fractured in the wrist.  My hands have a lot of damage and are weak from my psoriatic arthritis.  I had the same thing happen last November, and I grabbed my wrist when I crumped a slow mo to the floor.  I remembered this yesterday.  Both times it was the right side that I fell towards.  Then it came to me-  my knee was too weak to stand up from the floor when I crumped on the rug last week.  It has to be the soft spot in my Right knee giving out.  I have psoriatic arthritis in that knee too with a large spot that has degenerated.  Going to call my Ortho guy tomorrow.  See the Ortho hand doctor this week to see if we can just cast it and not do surgery.  All and all, a sucky week.  More updates later.  Barb.....
