Frank’s Story

Site created on February 26, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Please unless it is an emergency or critical, try to avoid contacting my mother or sister directly for updates. Any new information will be posted here. Please understand this is only to allow the family to deal with critical issues in a timely manner, get required rest when able, and most importantly to keep a quiet environment for dad as he recovers from his stroke. We promise to keep you posted on anything new that happens or information we receive from his medical team.

Thanks for understanding!

Newest Update

Journal entry by Helen Lane

It has been a long time since we have done an update. We got to Maine safely (and so did many of my belongings thanks to a good friend, Smitty) and have been VERY busy settling in while working with Frank. He is showing steady growth with setbacks along the way but the experts keep telling us that that is to be expected. They are amazed with how we are supporting him and we are amazed at how good the support is in Maine. The VA is so much easier to work with and Maine Health Homecare has been coming and working with him regularly, usually five days a week either PT or OT unless we have to have an appointment out of town. Gary and Mary Annis and Bonnie Clark (Frank’s sister) have been over and above anything I could have imagined helping me with his care and rehab. Frank is very happy and has had nice, uplifting visits with family from both sides.

Most of all, it is evident that moving to Maine was the best thing we could have done for both of us! Health and peace of mind have improved for both of us.  I miss my good friends and family in California more than I can say, but am blessed with good friends and family in Maine as well.

Please keep us in prayer. They keep reminding us that it is a long road ahead but that he shows real possibilities of a lot of progress.
Thank you to all of you that prayed us through this to this point!
