I just found out about the passing of my great friend Frank. I am very sorry for your loss. I met Frank 27 years ago and we have been friends ever since. Lacrosse brought us together, but our friendship remained long after the game was over.
My home in Birmingham became his bachelor pad when he would come to Bham for business or fun. Many nights on the deck or on tennis court. My daughters lovingly called him Uncle Frank, even though he loved to embarass them in public, but it was always with a life lesson in mind.
So many memories, laughs, one liners, limericks and more. We had talked about futures together and where and what. Like someone mentioned in their post, Frank was always praising others, yet, look at his fantastic life and the unbelievable impact he had on so many, some who were more challenged than others. We praise you for your love of life and your unselfish way of life, always giving to others.
So, tonight, we will sit on the whoopee cushion you gave my daughters, wear the Sponge Bob hat you gave me, and know that the Lewises' s lives were enriched in so many countless ways because of Frank T. Burns.
Frank clearly touch the lives of so many people. Reading through the remarks of others has been amazing. The clear common thread connecting each is that Frank was diligent and dedicated to where he was and whoever he was with. Thanks Coach Frank for being larger than life and leaving a legacy that will never fade. It's been an honor to know and work with you. God bless the entire family and everyone who mourns this great loss.
I am so sad to hear of Frank's passing. Your family is in my prayers. I know you will miss him dearly and remember him with great love. I look forward to news of the service next week.
I’ve just learned of this incredibly sad news. The world has lost one of its most positive cheerleaders in sport and in life. We will miss you Coach Frank. I will miss you. Blessings to all in the family and so saddened by your loss.
So very sorry to hear of Frank's passing. I always loved his smile and energy growing up. He is way too young to have gone to the other side.
Please all take care of yourselves and support each other.
Hugs,
Marion Sheridan
My heart is still heavy as like so many I kept waiting for the amazing come back and had been looking forward to the first time I would see him walk into a room (no one did it better than FTB). He never cared who you were or who you thought you were, he treated everyone with the same affection and sarcasm. He is irreplaceable and will be missed by all that knew him.
As it has been stated, thank you to the Burns family for keeping us all updated. You all will be in my families thoughts and prayers.
