Frances’s Story

Site created on March 31, 2018

Franny has had a long and active life which has amazed those who knew her.  She has spent the last 3 decades living independently in her mountain home in Red Lodge, MT.  She had every intention of spending her entire lifethere but progressive macular degeneration age-related weakness robbed her of the ability to care for herself.  She fought the good fight for a long time but early in March she called her son, Tim, and admitted she could no longer manage.

Franny had a short 5 day stint in an assisted living facility but it was rapidly apparent that she was failing fast and she needed more care than they could provide.  She moved in with her daughter, Catherine, where she is receiving hospice care.

Her sons Tim, Steve and Bill visit frequently and the occasional grandchild and greatgrandchild drop by.  I know that she has lots of friends  who would like to visit or call but she is now very weak and visiters are  hard on her.  She sleeps most of the time and has nearly quit eating.  She still has a sweet nature and apologizes frequently for being so much "trouble".  Please write her a note if the spirit moves you and I will read them to her.  Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.  Catie Owen

With a sad heart, I have to report that Mom passed last night around 6:25 pm.  Family held her hands when she made her tranition.  It was a hard moment but we all realized that she had an incredible lie and was loved by many.  Thank you all for the expressions of love and support you sent her.  We read her everyone and I know she was moved by the sentiments you expressed.  Thank you so much.
