Thy Kingdom Come!

Thanks be to God!!! And thank you to all of you who have been praying for me these past 10 months. God is good and today I received the great news from my oncologist that the multiple myeloma is in remission. The bone marrow biopsy and the full body PET scan both came back clear, and my kidney function has returned to normal.

Remission doesn't mean cured. Once you have this cancer, it always remains in your system ready to rear its ugly head again, so I will likely be on a maintenance chemo drug for the foreseeable future (i.e. several years) to make recurrence less likely. Thankfully, that pill will not be nearly as life-disrupting and the doctor doesn't expect me to even notice it since I would be on a low dosage.

Last Friday, I also received a clean bill of health from the cardiologist who reviewed my recent echocardiogram in light of the heart failure I had during the bone marrow transplant and the tissue damage suffered in my heart attack in February of 2016. Everything looks good to him, and my ejection fraction rate was back up to 50%. So this was great news also!

I can't thank our Lord and all of you enough for this blessing of good health! I am thankful also for the tremendous lessons I have learned over this past year. There's still plenty of suffering to work through yet with the neuropathy in my feet and my GI system still stabilizing, but the biggest issues are history now. God bless you all!
