Newest Update

Journal entry by Dean Blair

We deeply apologize for not giving everyone an update on here.  It has been a whole new level of adjustment getting home and trying to make a schedule.

Finnegan came home October 5th mid day.  He was a great little traveling companion.  For how badly he didn't want to be in the car seat;  he calmed right in and passed out for the whole ride home.  This included a half hour stop at altru to pick up feeding equipment.

He has since been to meet our pediatrician, and he is looking great.  He weighs just shy of 11lbs.  He is in the 10th percentile in weight, length, and head circumference.  His breathing is doing wonderful.  He was sent home with the feeding tube in his tummy, and that is the only accessory that he needed.  He gets tuckered out finishing all of his food, and rather him burn energy for to long on a bottle he will get fed thru the tube while he sleeps.  We have used the tube on average 1-2 times a day.  This is amazing to see him have this much strength and energy allready.  We think the tube will be removed sooner than later.

He fell right into place at home.  He loves the pups and even petted Parker yesterday.  Barkley will now let him touch him, but needs to be fully aware it is coming.  Finn is working on rolling over now.  That is our next big milestone.  He is full of facial expressions and smiles and noises.  We are so relieved and in love with him being home and out of the hospital!

Thank you everyone for the thoughts and prayers and visits.  We know we wouldn't be this far along without you all.

  Love,
Fighting Finnegan and Family!
