Journal entry by Lisa Keysor

Keith was discharged from the hospital yesterday afternoon (Monday) just in time to get to his Chemo Education appointment. (We learned at this appointment that his treatment was changed from a pill form of one of the three chemos to a pump he goes home with for 46 hours.)  This was a surprise to us and discouraging. The hospitalist was not ready to discharge him due to his high heart rate but the cardiothoracic surgeon said he needs to get started with treatment as soon as possible. So they discharged him which we were glad about. He’s had a lot of pain since being discharged and has been short of breath. When he went to his chemo appointment today the doctor adjusted his pain meds for better pain management. He was already feeling sick tonight. They gave him meds for nausea so hopefully they will work. We go to Moffitt tomorrow and then PET scan at Mayo on Thursday afternoon and the appointment on Friday morning. I forgot how much you have to fight/advocate for every single thing and it is exhausting and frustrating. Not to mention seeing someone you love suffer.  We have received so many messages and really appreciate everyone because it is easy to get lost in the pain and frustration. Your messages and comments and everything that everyone is doing for us right now help us so very much! Thank you and I will keep you posted about the Moffitt and Mayo appointments. ❤️
