Newest Update

Journal entry by Hope McPherson

Both boys had heart check-ups today in Cincinnati. The process is long enough when it's just Ezra, so we are all doubly tired tonight, but pleased with the results of the day!

Ezra's heart had an output of 67% today, which is the highest it has been! (A normal healthy range is 55-70%) All that to say, his heart is functioning normally and they are pleased with what they saw. They will continue to keep him on his current dose of medicine with the intent to let him outgrow the dosage by next year. We will go back in 6 months to make sure everything still looks good. We are all encouraged and relieved to hear the good news.

Emmett's heart also looked good and the tiny hole that they saw last year has closed! Yay!

We were told today that BOTH boys will need to continue to go to Cincinnati every year (we were originally told only Ezra) for check-ups, at least through adolescence. We still don't know the original cause for Ezra's heart issues, so they want to make sure that nothing changes in either boy's heart. We really appreciate their conservative care, but will also pray that each year brings an easier experience for the double Echo and EKG. 😉 (It's hard to ask 1-year-olds to lay calm and still for 45 minutes!)

As always, thank you for caring and praying! We feel so encouraged and loved by all of you! And thank you, Lord, for the way You're healing our boy(s)!
