Susie and Terry, Iv thought about Evan a lot lately before hearing about his illness. I really enjoyed the many years I got to know Evan. His laughter was contagious. I will forever cherish his breakfast/lunch time scars he left me:) My heart breaks for you all, he was very loved!

Rob and I are fortunate to live across the road from Susie and Terry and sons. Upon our move to the area 20 years ago, I learned that our special needs daughter would be riding the same school bus each day as Evan Taylor. The bus arrived in the Taylor’s driveway every morning at an incredibly early time when most people would not be functional, let alone smiling, but not Evan. Before the sun rose each day, Evan would board the school bus smiling and chatting in his special way. The memory of Evan’s uplifted countenance stays with me as I consider the blessings of stewarding special needs children. Thank you, Evan.

We have known Evan his whole life, as we live next door. Our 3 sons are a bit older than Evan and our daughter is a little younger than Derek.

Evan has always been a special guy in our hearts and his family has shown every one of us how to really love a person with very special needs. My family and I are blessed by their example.

It's easy to say we would go that extra mile, like they did for Evan, but it's another thing to actually live it day in and day out.

About a decade ago we asked The Taylor family if they would take care of our animals while we were on vacation. Evan came too. After our return Susie told of how our English Shepherd, Maya saw Evan for the first time and would not leave his side. It was a beautiful thing to learn of our our dog being so instantly devoted to Evan. We raise English Shepherds. I've retold the story about Maya sticking to Evan like glue over our time of raising puppies, especially when a family was seeking a puppy for a special needs child. Evan's experience helped those families have confidence in our English Shepherds. It really touched my heart that this wheelchair bound young person could attract our sensitve dog. And I was very glad she just did her instinctive thing of watching over Evan, while he waited in the yard. She knew that he was in need and somehow Evan invited her to stay nearby him during chore time.

I recall the special school bus that took Evan back and forth to school.

I noticed the nurse who stayed with Evan, for his family kept him at home and not in a nursing home. I admire his family for giving so much energy to helping Evan. I know God is well pleased for their devotion to Evan.

I know Evan's spirit is in the presence of the Lord; and that he is surrounded by those that love him.

His impact on all of us, has truly helped to shape us into more caring people. Terry, Susie, Phillip and Derek, have all shown extraordinary love and compassion. Yes indeed, Evan will be cherished and remembered.

Oh dear Susie and Terry and fam - I imagine you are just emotionally and physically drained. It is so good that you could be with him as he died. New life abounds - albeit in the midst of tears of grief. Holding you in my thoughts and prayers.
