Journal entry by Evan Marquit —
It is with a heavy heart that we post this update. Evan passed away peacefully, with Lollie at his side, the morning of August 9. Evan waged a valiant fight for nearly 2 years trying to overcome a stage 4 cancer diagnosis that had the odds stacked against him from the very start.
A memorial service will be held starting at 5:30pm on Thursday, August 25 at Deer Park Villa, in Fairfax. Dinner will not be served, so please plan to eat beforehand or come join us for a pot luck supper in Doc Edgar Park, just 2 blocks away, starting at 4pm. Please rsvp to Nscanlonhome@yahoo.com if you plan to attend the pot luck.
Following the memorial Evan’s friends and former bandmates will grab their instruments to celebrate Evan’s life musically. As you all know, Evan absolutely loved playing and listening to music, so to be surrounded by dear friends playing and listening to music together seems a fitting way to remember what made him happy.
Suggested attire for men is dress slacks and shirt, with jacket and tie optional. Suggested attire for women is appropriate funeral attire such as a dress or slacks. Evan hated black, so his family will be dressed in other colors. It often gets cold at night in the Fairfax Redwoods, so bring a jacket, not just a light sweater.
Evan leaves behind his wife Lollie, daughter Sadie and son Julian. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, anyone so desiring could make a contribution to the GoFundMe Account that has helped sustain the family following the loss of Evan’s income to bridge them through to a point where Lollie’s business can support the family.

This is a busy week for the Marquit family, so feel free to reach out to Ken Dupee at kdupee@tmgpartners.com with any questions. We understand that not all will be able to attend in person, so Lollie is arranging for a recording to be made of the ceremony. A link to the recording will be shared via CaringBridge following the service.
A $25 donation to CaringBridge powers a site like Evan's for two weeks. Will you make a gift to help ensure that this site stays online for them and for you?
