Eva’s Story

Site created on August 10, 2018

Dear friends and family,

In late July 2018, Eva was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of breast cancer.  Further tests have revealed additional cancer in her body, and we are learning more about what's going on every day.  Although Eva and Jon have been reaching out personally, we wanted to set up a way to get the word out to their extended network, provide a coordinated way for everyone to provide a hand at this time of need, keep loved ones informed of progress through her treatment and provide an easy way to share well wishes and offers of support.

A cancer diagnosis at 41 years old with 3 small children is an awful hand to be dealt. We know Eva, Jon, Tucker, Hudson and Layla appreciate all the love, prayers, support and words of encouragement that you've shared.  This will be a tough journey for their sweet family, and we know they are so thankful to have you in their lives.

Please feel free to share your thoughts with Eva and the family below.  We've also set up a couple of ways you can provide help to the Crawford family in this time of need (click on Ways to Help), including the GoFundMe account (click on "Personal Fundraiser") to assist the Crawford Family with the significant financial burden that will follow. If you are considering making a donation, please do so to this account (rather than CaringBridge) as it will go directly to the Crawford Family to pay for extra childcare costs, medical treatment, health insurance costs, etc.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Love,
Eva’s Divas ❤️

Newest Update

Journal entry by Erin Fagerlind

It’s time for another update! Eva did so well with her hip stabilization that her doctor decided to not perform the other procedure on the vertebrae at this time, and Eva was discharged the day after her hip procedure! She recovered very quickly at home and was walking around the block with a walker 4 days later. She has continued physical therapy a few times a week and is doing really well. She is only occasionally using a cane now!

Eva had her first round of chemo at the end of last week and then went to a beach house with friends to relax for the weekend. So far she has been handling the chemo side effects very well and hasn’t had any problems with nausea and vomiting. She has been experiencing some bone pain and headaches, which is common from one of the infusions she received last week. Even through the side effects, her spirit remains resilient and she is proving just how tough she really is. She is determined to beat this cancer and the battle has begun! Her next chemo will be on Sept. 28. Please keep Eva and her family in your prayers! She’s got this! Thank you for your support! #evastrong
