Ethel’s Story

Site created on January 14, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. In the 1st part of December Ethel went into the ER with abdominal pain and a fever. She was admitted into the hospital, the doctors got the infection in her abdomen cleared up and discovered a tumor. They ran several tests, did surgery and determined that Ethel had colon cancer. They removed 18 inches of her colon. After nearly 6 weeks in the hospital, we thought she was getting better and went to rehab in Lake City to get stronger. Two days later they said the cancer has spread. Ethel has been unable to eat properly since this started and has become very weak. Ethel has been transferred to Samaritan Bethany in Rochester. The doctors have stated that the cancer has spread and she has been placed on hospice. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
