Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Ethan had a sledding accident on Saturday January 19, 2019 which resulted in a broken neck - C5 vertebrate.    He has so many family, friends, and community supporters that we wanted to make sure we could provide updates on his recovery journey.   Thanks to all for the continued love and support!

Journal entry by Julie Newell

Day 14 - what a soul soothing day, we are humbled by the continued support and love for Ethan and us during his recovery.  Mike and Stacy Hogan (Olivia’s Mom and Dad) reached out to a remarkable young man, Hayden Schaumburg, to see if he would be interested in talking with Ethan about his own spinal cord injury and recovery.  This afternoon Ethan and Hayden spent about 30 minutes talking on the phone.  It was so comforting and inspirational for Ethan to hear from Hayden who has been in the same situation.  Ethan was able to ask him questions about his experience and Hayden gave him all kinds of tips and ideas for continued motivation.  (I attached Hayden’s Story in the link below - we watched a few days in to our stay at Mercy, and it was so inspiring for All of us)

Winding down early for some Super Bowl watching - and chocolate chip cookie cake eating!
