Journal entry by Anne Root

Hi All,

First ..thank you for anyone that reached out to Erin with your kind thoughts. They were very positive for Bill and I as well and we all realized how fortunate we are to have such great friends and family in our lives.

Last Sunday Erin went for her MRI. We went to her follow-up appointment on Wednesday at Princess Margaret Hospital to see her oncologist. Unfortunately they had not received the results from the MRI when we met the doctor. The doctor did show us the brain scans and they looked to us like the tumour had shrunk slightly. Then we received the report a few days later and the report indicated the tumour had not shrunk but in the doctors words...

.."Similar appearance of the treated right frontal tumor surgical bed. No evidence of  tumor growing."

S
o whether the tumour shrunk or stayed the same ...the news is good. Erin's blood work was good so she will continue on her monthly chemo treatment on TEMOZOLOMIDE with 7 more monthly treatments to go. She started a treatment on Thursday and will finish Monday night. In the meantime, Erin and Mom are hanging out together being a bit lazy.

As many of you know, in 2016 Erin was also diagnosed with leukemic cutis, after her brain tumour removal surgery. They found leukemia cells in a rash on her leg. She has been going to Princess Margaret Hospital for 4 years every 3 months for follow up. So far no  further signs of leukemia....although some blood results were questionable.  She is back there on July 17th for her next appointment. The concern is her immune system will be  comprised with chemo and the leukemia may show up again. Having said that her blood count results were really good last week so I think everything should be fine when she see the doctor on the 17th.

Again...thank you all for your kind thoughts, prayers and emails and notes. You can't begin to know how much they meant.
