What was thought to be a minor eye issue in early February, escalated into a need to visit the emergency room. After an MRI, countless labs, a lacrimal gland biopsy, and eventually a craniotomy brain biopsy non-Hodgkin's lymphoma behind Erin's left eye was finally revealed. My oncologist has designated a treatment plan that will consist of 6 cycles of chemotherapy at Emory University over the next 6 months with possible radiation after chemotherapy.

Kori and I's first priority is to keep a sense of normalcy for our two kids, Ethan (4) and Elliot (2). So many of you have asked if we need anything and we just didn't have the answers yet. While short-term disability benefits help ease some of the burden, it doesn't cover some of the intangibles. Support can look a lot of ways during this time...for those familiar with them, spending time with the kids (especially during times of my low energy), contributing to home cleaning services to help protect my weakened immune system during treatment, or providing meal/grocery delivery gift cards or cooked meals to help with the task of cooking for a family of 4. Check out the "Ways to Help" tab to contribute. Anyone who has been through this journey, your words of advice are definitely welcomed as well.

My only rule is no pity patient treatment! This is a treatable diagnosis. I've already made up my mind to be healed, and God got me. Thanks for visiting. I can't promise frequent updates, but I'll answer that phone when I can. Love y'all!

Journal entry by Erin McMillion

Round three went a little better than the first two. The nurses and doctors at Emory Winship Cancer Institute do a great job of listening to how I’m feeling and trying to adjust treatment to me as much as allowable. This time they incorporated some Lasix to help combat some of the fluid retention from treatment. I also tried walking around the floor and hitting the bike in their fitness room. It still was no picnic, but it helped.
It also helped having Kori stay with me a few nights keeping me company…watching Netflix…and her fussing at all the food and clothes I brought. Listen if I’m going to be in there, I’m going to be as comfortable as I can make it! 😏 (I ended up throwing out half the food I took because cause I was too bloated to eat🫣).
You can see in my face how thrilled I was to head into this round (insert sarcasm and annoyance), but hey…we’re halfway through 🤞🏽 God willing.
