Journal entry by Erin Louthen —
Hi friends and family,
Happy Valentine's Day! I know many of you know this news already, but I wanted to let you all know here on the CaringBridge site that as of 2/09, the MRI results are in, and NO CANCER WAS DETECTED!! I AM CANCER-FREE!!
Because of this wonderful news, I have been cleared to go back to work, and will start back on March 1st on a part-time basis. My main objective here is to ease myself back into working life and not wear myself out in the process. I imagine that for the first few months, my life will be: work, eat, sleep. And maybe the occasional night out with my sweetie, Daniel :).
My doctors are all very enthusiastic, which makes me feel even more encouraged that I received such a healthy prognosis! My tongue is healing well, and although I am still mostly on soft foods (oatmeal, mac n cheese, smoothies, ice cream), I am thinking we might be able to remove my g-tube (feeding tube) as soon as a month from now. Fingers crossed!
Next steps are a PT scan at the end of March, and of course, my return to work. Until then, I am resting up as much as I can, trying to stay in the present moment, and not freak myself out about going back to work and the world!
On the eve of my birthday, all I keep thinking is this: "Erin, you got a second chance at life! Now what are you going to do with it??!!"
I love you all so very much! Happy Valentine's Day to you all!
Xoxoxo,
Peach
