A Celebration of Life
Erin Marie LeJeune Herrin
April 7, 1986 - April 11, 2024

Erin Marie LeJeune Herrin gained her angel wings on April 11, 2024. A rainstorm that brought flooding and tornados the day before gave way to a spectacularly beautiful sunny day that was like a sacred welcome mat from the kingdom of heaven.

Erin was always a cherished star of her family. She brought love, laughter, kindness, and joy to all who had the blessing of knowing her. We cannot imagine the world without Erin in it. She is unforgettable and lives forever in our hearts.

Everyone who knew Erin will always remember her radiant smile, infectious laughter, loud voice, love of dancing, shoes, jewelry, purses, and having fun with family and friends. We see her teaching the angels in heaven how to line dance! Erin gained her forever boogie shoes and a front row seat to every Taylor Swift concert. We know she walked through the gates of heaven like a boss.

Erin ‘s wonderful life began on April 7, 1986, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was raised in Chalmette and Metairie and had been a resident of Baton Rouge and Metairie since 2004.

At three years old, she sang on stage with The New Kids on the Block during their concert in the New Orleans Superdome. A photograph of the event and a story appeared in the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Erin graduated from Mt. Carmel Academy in New Orleans in 2004, where she was a member of the national award-winning Carmelettes Dance Team that traveled to competitions around the U.S. In 2003, the team danced as part of the half-time show for the Hawaii Bowl in Honolulu.

Erin graduated from LSU in 2008 and became an outpatient clinical research coordinator at Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, a career she cherished. Her research projects included studies in cancer, diabetes, obesity, and Alzheimer’s disease, to name a few. The Alzheimer’s (A4) and obesity (STEP ) programs were published in JAMA. The oncology trials were with cancer survivors doing exercise intervention to decrease the chance of recurrence.

Erin was a maid in the 2008 Krewe of Aquila and was particularly proud of being named a Princess in the 2010 court of the Mystick Krewe of Louisianians (Washington Mardi Gras) by Krewe Captain Senator Mary Landrieu.

Erin is survived by her loving parents, Sidney and Darlene Higgins LeJeune; cherished sister, Stacie LeJeune Pomes (Ryan) and nephew Alexander Ballard; maternal grandmother, Irma Higgins; adoring aunts Kathy Higgins Verigan (godfather Terrence) and Cheryl Higgins Naquin (Roy); uncle Michael LeJeune (Pamela); and a host of cousins and other relatives; her husband Grant and her beloved furry companion, Finn Herrin; and spoiled family cat, Oliver, who Erin rescued from the street in Baton Rouge.

Erin’s family is eternally grateful to her dear friends since their time as students at LSU for their unwavering love, care, and support of her for over 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Herbert “Herbie” Higgins; paternal grandparents, Sidney, Sr., and Alice Karl LeJeune; godmother Gail LeJeune; and her beloved and loyal service dog Lad IV Herrin.

Erin loved animals and volunteered at various organizations to help them. If you wish to honor Erin’s memory, a tax deductible donation can be made in her honor to SpayMart (spaymart.org). Her family deeply appreciates it.

Erin lived her life with enduring love, courage, and a relentless spirit that will forever inspire those who knew her. While we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the extraordinary life she led and the lasting impact she made. Rest in peace and our eternal love, Princess Erin. Your life will forever be remembered as one of love, kindness, and the unwavering joy of life.
