Erik’s Story

Site created on October 12, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

On September 24th, 2020 my husband Erik Janssen fell off a ladder at work. Thankfully his co-worker was there and he rushed him to the emergency room. The initial CT showed a mass on the right side of his brain as well as a brain bleed and he was air lifted from Freeport, IL to OSF Saint Anthony's in Rockford, IL. At OSF they confirmed via MRI a parietal temporal tumor. On September 30th, 2020 the tumor was successfully removed. Erik has some peripheral vision loss and arm weakness on the left side but these are getting better as of 10/12/2020.

Tomorrow we have his first follow up to check the incision, remove staples, and we should be receiving the results of the tumor.

Erik is so strong and such a fighter. I just want to keep everyone updated as much as possible during this scary time of our lives. Erik has always been a hard worker and just being home and recouping has been so hard on him. We are asking for continued prayers, support, words of encouragement as he/we face this head on. He's never been one to back down from a challenge so I know he'll fight his hardest against this.
