Eric’s Story

Site created on March 12, 2021

Dear family and friends, This month, March 2021, Eric Westlund was diagnosed as having Stage 4 Small Cell Lung Cancer.  About 8 weeks ago Eric began experiencing a dry persistent cough, heavy fatigue, and pain in his back.  After several rounds of tests and having an MRI, he was diagnosed with an incurable cancer that they are treating with chemotherapy and possibly radiation.  Eric and his wife Jenn gave us their permission to start this caring bridge site to help communicate information and ways to support and pray for the Westlund family.  With much love, Michelle and Wade Wrightson

Journal entry by Carol Brown

Today marks 1 month since we said goodbye to Eric.  Not going to sugar coat it, the last month has been tough for us all.  Out of town/visiting family members have returned to their homes.  Friends and families have returned to the new normal without Eric, as we try to do as well,

During the last few weeks we have been reading your cards and writing thank you notes.  Unfortunately, we are aware that there are multiple thank-you notes that should be sent out, but have been missed.  To those that contributed to Eric's Go-Fund-Me page, sent cards prior to Eric, dropped off meals, a huge thank you!  Your thoughtfulness allowed Jenn and Eric to have some type of normalcy during those  last few months.

To all those that took time out of their busy schedules to attend Eric's celebration, thank you!  We cannot express enough how in awe we were for the number of people that attended.   In planning the gathering, we planned on possibly 100 in attendance, needless to say it exceeded that count!

We are truly humbled for all your love and support.

The Family of Eric.
