Eric’s Story

Site created on February 12, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Eric was diagnosed with congestive heart failure about a month ago,  the same day his employer cancelled his insurance. He is 39yrs old,  recently engaged and has a young son. They originally told him that he would need to rest,  diet etc. They had a scheduled a heart valve replacement surgery this past Friday morning,  however when the anethsteiologist came in and sedated him,  his heart was only pumping at 10%. It lowered to pump at 5%. He was admitted to the Cardiovascular ICU where he remains "on the edge" as the call it. He's being assessed in 12 hour intervals. Meaning if nothing changed in that 12 hours they would look at the next 12 ahead. He's on a ventalator,  heart balloon pump and medically sedated. There seems to be brain activity so the new goal is to get him stable enough to transport to be hospitalized there to await a heart transplant. Keep in mind,  his fiancee,  father,  and sister have relentlessly prayed over him and stayed by his side trying to not let him sense the panic and fear as he has no idea the valve surgery couldn't happen all while being evicted from the home they were trying to build as a new young couple. So prayer is all anyone can really ask for but if you feel led to donate,  there is a link.
