Journal entry by Amy Dorsey —
Last Friday my boyfriend Henry and I received devastating news. Henry we have been together for the last 10 years, btw I know some people don’t even know I’m in a relationship because we don’t post pics together haha.
Henry had a growth removed from his ear last Monday. His results came back Friday & he has been diagnosed with malignant melanoma cancer. We have an appointment with OHSU next Tuesday with two melanoma specialists. His entire right ear will have to be removed and we will have a complete body & brain scan to see how much/if the cancer has spread.
We are terrified of the unknown and scared that we know how aggressive this cancer is.
I wanted to let everyone know if I don’t respond to your texts or calls. A part of me doesn’t want to be around anyone but him and some days I do want/need a distraction, but it’s still so hard as it’s all I can focus on.
Any suggestions or words of encouragement will never go unheard. We can take any advice right now. It’s agonizing waiting to get into his next appointment to get more answers.
Thank you to all who have helped already covering my shifts & classes. You will never know how great full I am to you. Thank you for your texts and prayers. I know you don’t always feel like your words are enough but they have all provided us with such great comfort.
Patients and caregivers love hearing from you; add a comment to show your support.
