Emmet’s Story

Site created on June 18, 2020

I have been dealing with a pressure sore on my hip since August 2019.  I was going to have surgery on it because the bone underneath got infected back in April 2020.  However, as you all know, something nasty soon went 'viral' around the world, so my surgery was delayed.  Now it is back on.  Please follow individual journal entries on this site, as I will update my status as things come along. Time to kick some arse!

Journal entry by Emmet McGarrity

Alright! It's official after my wound healing Institute appointment today,I have been officially Cut Loose from them, unless something comes up.  No more appointments! I can just focus on my therapy, strengthening and getting out of bed and into my chair for the foreseeable future. So now it's just occupational and physical therapy until I am 100% back to my old self.

248 days since my last summer surgery, and 18 months total since the start of the ordeal. And the moral of the story is go to the doctor immediately if you see something wrong. Self-medicating is probably better left to those who know what they're talking about.

Very special thanks to team goose and to every individual who was rooting for us and praying for us. Also eveyone who came to help me. It's too many to name but you know who you are, and I will never forget your kindness. One last special thanks to my employer TCS along with my loyal client Ameriprise for holding my spot during this entire time. It's much appreciated and I feel great to be back at work.

What a journey this has been. I got major lesson in patience!

Now let's don't do this ever again!
