Emily’s Story

Site created on December 17, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

On December 13 Emily was walking home from work. She was struck by a car near our house while crossing the crosswalk. She was rushed to Harborview Hospital with life threatening injuries. I am starting this caring bridge page because people are posting all sorts of rumors of her death on her Facebook page. If you want real updates please come here and I will try to keep everyone updated. Yesterday our family met with neurosurgeon s, Trauma ICU doctors, and palliative care team. Because of the extreme damage done to Emily's body and brain it is felt that it is most likely  not a survivable injury. Our family agreed that the best course would be to keep her comfortable but not put her through the list of surgeries she would need to begin putting her back together again if she will never wake up. We do not have a plan currently to remove her ventilator. We are taking this slow and waiting for Emily to make her decision. Until then the immediate family takes turns watching over her, playing soft music, telling her how we all love her so much and that all her friends are sending so many thoughts and prayers for her. She seems to be resting comfortably and not suffering. Thank you to all the people who have been sharing how Emily impacted their lives. I hold every story as a treasure. Thank you.
