OMG.....I just saw this post. IF that isn't the cutest pic.....I don't know what is. I had the pleasure of celebrating a b-day the same week as Emily....and you are so right....she did love to celebrate her birthdays. She knew I didn't love to cook, so she gifted me several really FUN kitchen utensils. It puts a smile on my face everytime I use them (especially the "egg" beater). Ruby & Rob ...praying good things come your way

Also her surprise 16th birthday party tubing at Green Acres. The high point was when Emily flew over a big mogul and was knocked unconscious. She thought that was pretty exciting. We’re you there, Jessica and Beth?

She was a force of nature and celebration of life! Thank you so much for sharing those bday stories, especially the Edward Scissorhands bday. AMAZING.

Oh my gosh did she ever love birthdays! Ed and I were honored to be part of the 40th birthday Depp-tastic celebration, a 40 taped to our hands and the works. It was pretty epic and she has certainly been in our thoughts this past week. Another birthday we attended she had at some friend's house in south Minneapolis/Powderhorn park area and there was a great deal of tequila and Mezcal passed around. Just remember her face lit with that Emily smile and laughter and mischief. Cheers to you, Mrs. Hope-Hofher!

Emily, Spencer and I had a tradition of going to eat at a restaurant chosen by the birthday celebrant and the other two would pay for it. I tended to choose fancy expensive gourmet, Spencer chose Mexican. But three years in a row Emily chose Ecopolitan, which is raw food. The first year we were pleasantly surprised by what you could do with raw food. The next year we paid more attention to the funky factor. After the third year we ate there Spencer and I privately decided that if she wanted to go there next year we would politely urge her to branch out. It became an inside joke and Emily appreciated the humor.
