Emily’s Story

Site created on March 2, 2022

Our beloved Emily has recently been informed she has cancer in her liver. At this point there is still a lot that is unknown as tests/biopsy are still being ran. What we do know is her liver is currently enlarged and covered with tumors. She begins Chemotherapy tomorrow 3/3 to try and reduce the size of her liver to prevent her from going into liver failure. The oncologist here is working hard to get Emily referred to MD Anderson down in Houston TX and Emily is optimistic this is the best fit for her recovery! Lets shower her with love and prayers as she embarks on this tough journey ahead.  Updates will be posted as we know more. Thank you

Journal entry by Emily Hendry

Happy Friday Friends,

I had my follow up in Houston last week.  I have been on my newest treatment, xeloda, for only 3 months.  Unfortunately the scans were not favorable.  There is a little progression in my liver and some new spots on my spine and pelvis. My labs seemed stable to me and my cancer tumor test figure was down so that was good.  However my doctor wants us to jump ship and try something new.

Now I am on Enhurtu, this is an infusion that I will get every 3 weeks. This is a fairly new drug and my doctors are very optimistic about it.  I am also starting on xgeva to help strengthening my bones.

I had my first treatment on Wednesday.  Honestly it knocked me out.  I nearly slept for 2 days.  Today is better with the exception of some nausea.  I will go back in 3 weeks for labs and treatment again.

Again thanks for the continued thoughts and prayers.  I am truly blessed.

Love you all❤️
