Welcome to Emery’s CaringBridge website!

Our family has felt the outpouring prayers, love, and support from each of you. We are so grateful for our families and friends who have reached out with kind words and encouragement. We are so grateful for the doctors, nurses, and staff at the hospital who have kept us informed and have given Emery the care and attention that she needs. We will post updates, pictures, and share any well wishes we receive with Emery.  💕

Journal entry by Heather Rutledge

After being rescheduled/postponed a few times, Emery was finally able to ring the ceremonial bell on February 2nd! Members of Emery’s care team, nurses and clinic staff lined the hallway singing and cheering as we made our walk to the bell. Emery rang the bell (or gong at our clinic) 3 times! She received a poster with well wishes from her team, a beautiful beaded survivor bracelet, an Our Generation doctor doll and a grounding stone. Emery picked the word strength for her grounding stone, which makes perfect sense. Emery Strong. 🧡 Emery also signed her name on the 2024 canvas. All patients who ring the bell in 2024 will add their name to the canvas which is displayed in the hallway of the clinic. It was such a special moment for our family and one that we will never forget. We are forever grateful for the care and support we have received from everyone at Masonic Children’s Hospital. It was so nice to officially celebrate the end of Emery’s treatment with them.

This quote is on a plaque next to the bell and I wanted to share it with you.

“A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” -Christopher Reed “Superman”

So happy we were able to celebrate our hero!

Emery Strong. 🧡
