Journal entry by Bella Gilyard

We finished turning the distractors 10 days ago and it’s been such a relief to be done with that part! The distractor sites and her incision have continued to heal relatively well and seem to be doing even better since we’ve stopped distracting. The distractors ended up being very short, which has meant we’ve been able to stop wrapping her head whenever she sleeps. What a relief that has been to take one more thing off our plate.

Elsie has had a fun few weeks with Easter, going to the zoo, and her first concert in a theater. We (hopefully) have a relatively quiet rest of the month before MRIs and CT scans start next month to see how her brain and skull look and to plan her next surgery… just in time for her baby sister to arrive :)
