Journal entry by Scott Linder —
And the hits just keep on coming.
Today the surgeon that took care of Buffy's infection came in to look at how she's doing. Buffy asked her what the timeframe was for her...how much time did she have left.
3-4 weeks was the answer.
Initially I'd been told a few weeks to a few months. Or maybe that's what I had thought I heard.
Like I needed another gut punch right now.
I'm in the process of making room for what will be Buffy's hospital bed...her bed for the rest of her life. It's taking a little bit of cleaning and moving stuff around. We've been a little complacent since she was diagnosed and started treatment.
But the toughest thing right now is taking the actual bed down. I put that together just after we got married over 23 years ago. If I was disassembling it for any other reason it'd be fine. Right now, it just hurts.
The outpouring of love and affection over the past few days has been overwhelming. If I haven't thanked you for it yet, I mean to. It's literally overwhelming! So many people. It's amazing how many lives get touched by others.
As I said before...updates as things change. Hopefully she'll get to come home today...I want to get her settled in for a few days before she considers visitors. Family will need to come first, of course, then as time and her strength persists we can arrange for others to visit.
Thank you again for all the support. I honestly cannot relate to you how much it means to us.
