We have reached most of you with notice that we are not doing the October 7 celebration but we know we may have missed some people.

Eleni's one request about honoring her after her passing was for us to establish, and fund an endowded scholarship, in her name at Risen Christ Catholic School and we are focusing our resources on fulfilling that wish. 

The information about the scholarship is as follows:

Dr. Eleni Roulis was a lifelong educator who worked tirelessly for the betterment of all students at the University of St. Thomas.  The individual learner was as the center of all her teaching. She engaged with every student, regardless of class, gender, or color of skin. Her teaching was a living example of inclusion and diversity at every level. She joyfully supported the mission of Risen Christ Catholic School. She especially enjoyed interacting with the students she met at the school’s gala events. One of her final wishes was to encourage young girls attending Risen Christ to embrace education as life changing and personally empowering to have an impact on the greater good. This scholarship has been established in her memory.

A $500 scholarship is to be awarded annually to a young girl who has successfully completed her 7th grade year. The scholarship recipient should demonstrate intellectual curiosity and a desire to further her education beyond high school, show respect and concern for others in her behavior toward classmates, teachers, and others, and have interest in and ideas for making the world a better place for all.

Our thanks to those who have contributed to the scholarship--it will indeed be the most fitting remembrance and celebration of her life. Anyone wishing to contrtibute can send donations to:

Thank you again to all who surrounded Eleni, her family and caregivers with love and support throughout her illness and in the time since her passing. Sharing memories of her infectious smile and laughter made our journey through grief easier and we hope that is true for all of you reading this. Give some love away in her honor.
