Journal entry by Erica Lea-Simka

I had a routine appointment at the cancer center with my endocrinologist today.

No big news, but we continue to tweak my thyroid hormone replacement medication dosage.

The doctor called my situation chronic because we could go many years without removing the tiny problematic tissue in my neck near the artery that the scan in December found.

CT scan in June to look again. If it shows something clearly problematic, we would do an ultrasound and biopsy then decide about waiting or surgery. If the scan doesn’t show anything new we just leave it alone and keep a close watch.

The doctor said he's had patients for maybe 20 years with a similar situation. It's a mental shift, but I will continue to stay on top of my labs and imaging and everything.

I'm feeling good, especially on this beautiful spring day.

Full steam ahead!
