Eleanor’s Story

Site created on September 23, 2019

Hello family and friends. René asked me to set up a site where we can post updates and support one another as we travel this path with Eleanor/Mom/Sis/Gram/Auntie. We learned on her 93rd birthday that cancer has spread throughout her spine. She is still at home moving around, climbing stairs, eating, talking, and yelling at the people on tv. 😉
But hospice services through JourneyCare have begun.
Please check in here, we’ll do our best to share information and ways to help and most of all to give support to René and Tyrone as they navigate this difficult road. I’d like to especially thank Shannon, their home care giver who comes every day to be with Gram and gives René peace of mind while at work and so much valuable advice. 💐
Eleanor has lived an amazing long life, and we are truly blessed to be included as witnesses to the final part of her journey. Love and peace to all.

Journal entry by Marcy Marttila

Last night, Eleanor took her final breath. She has left our world and joined the loved ones who have gone before. We are saddened, but also grateful for the peaceful way she went. ❤️
There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 2nd at René & Tyrone’s home. Details will be posted at a later time.
Patients and caregivers love hearing from you; add a comment to show your support.
