Eldon’s Story

Site created on January 9, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. Our Dad and brother Eldon moved to central Kansas seeking treatment for prostate cancer in February of 2018. He made his home in Halstead KS, and attended church at Sedgwick. He worked several jobs and has many friends in the area. Last spring he had a bout with esophageal cancer. He has completed chemotherapy and radiation treatment for that. In early December he strained his back working. He complained of back pain for several weeks. The day before Christmas he traveled to Branson, Mo. to meet his children for a few day getaway. When he arrived he complained of lack of bladder function, and back pain. By Christmas day afternoon, son-in-law Neil Brubaker took him to an Emergency facility in Branson. They diagnosed acute renal failure. He was taken to Cox Medical center in Springfield for further treatment and testing. In the next several days it was concluded that his kidneys were not functioning. They started dialysis and his situation was stabilizing, and pain was easing, til about a week in, when it seems his digestive system began to fail. He had a lot of nausea and the resulting misery. In the process of trying to find the cause of that they noticed what they realized was pneumonia on his left lung. So now they have him on a high level of oxygen, medication for pneumonia, dialysis, and he's not eating, and is drinking very little. Many thanks to all of you who have been praying, and we covet continued love and prayers.
