Esmé Jo’s Story

Site created on June 8, 2022

Esmé Jo was born March 8th - exactly 10 weeks before she was due because I got HELPS. Her birth weight was 3 lb 12 oz and her length was 17.34 in. She got Sepsis and Ecoli shortly after birth . Little Miss also got hydrocephalus as a side affect from bleeding in the brain and had to have a shunt put in. Since then she has also had malrotated intestine and needed to have a Gtube put in also. Currently she is in NICU because she has hypoglycemia and is still on higher respiratory support. Those needs need to be addressed and a plan of care in place before she can go home.

Hi:) Thought that I'd share the news that Esmé voluntarily walked to Jay this morning from a kitchen cabinet:)!! We've been doing therapy w her at home and also started up therapy appts w her... once or twice a month (only gone to one so far, but that is the plan until she is walking quite a bit). Her therapist says that her walking is inevitable,  but she needs to get moving! Esmé has also been walking by herself 15-20 steps sometimes in the therapy sessions that Jay and I do with her. IF she forgets that we are not holding on to her. She doesn't know how to stand up by herself yet from the middle of the floor,  but is working on that! We have a little ways to go I think,  but I am super excited that we are this far. It is such a milestone and has taken lottttts of work to get this far.
Have a super day!!:)
