Happy New Year!
It's been a while since I posted an update, so I wanted to fill everyone in on where my dad is in his recovery process. This morning, he had a successful skin graft done on his left hand. He will wear a wound vac over the graft for a week or so. Then, hopefully he can begin some therapy and learn a new normal.
One piece of information that we haven't shared with many people is that my dad will have to have some surgery on his kidney. During some tests that were performed during his hospital stay in November following his accident, the doctors found a tumor on one of his kidneys. They are about 85% sure that the tumor is cancerous; however, they are also very confident that it is localized and can be treated with surgery alone. This surgery will be on February 1.
