Dan is one of the good guys. I knew him mostly in elementary, middle, and high school. One of my favorite memories, because now that I am a grown up with a little boy of my own, I appreciate the cuteness and ingenuity is as follows:

When we were all at Watts Middle School, Danny came to school with his hair looking cool and a bit more spikey than usual. He looked pretty cool. Some of his friends were playing by touching his hair and asked how he got it that way. He said he used Crisco instead of hair gel, because he was out of hair gel. Total awesomeness! He faced a problem in a creative, forthright, and positive way. Dan has impacted many lives, most of all his family, but also so many students and their families. I feel honored and humbled to be able to smile and say, "I knew him when..." I also admit that the latest journal entry hit me very hard. Heart ache hard. Ugly crying but not in a funny way. I am heartbroken for Dan and his whole family. I am inspired by his resilliance and fighting spirit. I send prayers, love, and support to his family and to Dan. I haven't seen him in person in years, but his impact in my life is that strong. I am in awe and salute you, Dan. Please message me on fb with a way to help.

WE ARE DEVASTATED FOR ALL OF YOU. NOW IS THE TIME TO PUT ALL TRUST IN YOUR LORD, ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS ASK HIM FOR STRENGTH FOR ALL OF YOU TO ACCEPT HIS WILL, WHATEVER IT IS, AND ASK FOR HIS SUPPORT AS YOU MAKE CHOICES AND GO THROUGH THIS TIME. Robert and I are sad to learn Dan's current status. You are, however, fortunate to have each other and supportive families and communities. This journey has been filled with so many emotions. We are thinking of you and your children.
