Dutch’s Story

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.


We have started this page to help Mickey communicate with all of you.  She is worn out and cannot continue to update 30 or 40 people a day on an individual basis.  We will update this site daily and we hope that you will check in here instead of directly with Mickey.  She needs this time to spend with Dutch and not to be on the phone all day long.

A few months ago Dutch started having severe pain in his legs and back.  He has had numerous hip and knee surgeries over the years and his hip keeps coming out of the socket.  He also has extensive tissue damage in his back.  He is scheduled to have hip surgery on November 27th and was taken to The Seasons to live until the surgery as he is no longer able to get around.  Last week the doctors said he was deteriorating quickly and said they think he only has a few weeks left.  At this point, hospice was brought in to make him more comfortable and care for him.  

As you can imagine, Mickey is devastated, sad and extremely worried.  She is running herself ragged and needs all of us to take care of her while she cares for Dutch.  We ask that you keep Dutch, Mickey and their family in your thoughts and prayers.  Please share this page with others so people can check in here instead of asking her directly.

Today was a fairly good day. Dutch is getting breathing treatments four times a day now so he is breathing better. It is still so difficult and very hard on Mickey to deal with everything that is happening Mickey is so appreciative of the prayers and support. Please keep them coming. Thanks, Rebecca
