Newest Update

Journal entry by Mindy Elwood

Hi all!

Sorry it's been so long since I've updated this. But no news is good news right? Duane has been doing well, good days and bad but his numbers have stayed steady and good.

Last week Duane had a bone marrow biopsy to see if he can come off his maintenance chemo.  There are pros and cons to coming off and to staying on.  The longer a person is on revlimid the greater the chance of developing a secondary cancer.  Once a person comes off the maintenance chemo, the greater the chance of the multiple myeloma resurfacing and doing so more aggressively.  Duane feels he would rather take the risk of the myeloma waking up than the risk of developing a different cancer on top of the MM.

We heard back from the doctor today with his biopsy results, all is great and he is still MRD negative which means the myeloma cells aren't multiplying in his bone marrow as of yet.

Duane and his doctor have agreed that this will be Duane's last month of revlimid!

This is great news, a little scary to see what happens once he is off, Duane is excited to not feel so toxic all the time hopefully.

I hope you are all doing well in your own battles, and pursuing your dreams.  We appreciate all the positive thoughts you have sent our way over the last almost 3 years.
