Journal entry by Rebecca Cordova —
Well today was a big day for Duane and me! Duane was released from the hospital and returned to outpatient status. He is still quite weak and has little to no energy. Duanes diet at present consists of protein jello and an occasional bowl of cheerios. All of his counts are at or above where they should be to go back home to Gary, which we plan on doing next week...as long as his levels stay up where they belong. He must go to the clinic every morning for a check-up, and on tuesday the 23rd he shall see Dr. Porada, his transplant doc, to be able to go home. He will also get his pic line out that day. We will have to return to the Mayo in 100 days after transplant or roughly October 15ish for a check-up, then not again till a one year check-up. We have made many new friends and some very dear friends...it will be hard to say goodbye, so we will likely say see you again one day and stay in touch.
And then there is the tube leading into his gallbladder...he has an appointment at Riverview in 4 weeks with Dr. Vibeto for a check and then 4 weeks later surgery to remove his gallbladder and the tube.
I will try and keep you up to date on happenings and wish us well, God Bless you all...Becky and Duane
