Newest Update

Journal entry by Mackenzie Reber

Hi everyone!

It's been a minute since I've given a good update so here ya go. Drew is doing better both physically and mentally. We're definitely progressing quicker mentally though but, baby steps. He's now gotten his humor back and processes things quicker. I feel like my husband is coming back and it's amazing. He still doesn't like to be around a lot of people and gets headaches but that's just something we're adjusting to. He's working hard 3-5 days a week at therapy and boy, can you tell the difference after therapy. Towards the end of the day his muscles shake more and his legs sometimes become wet noodles but that means he worked hard.

We're working on him doing little tasks at home so that I can get back to work sometime. For example, he warmed up something from the fridge yesterday for lunch on his own. BIG step. He does pretty good with standing and pivoting to the toilet or his shower chair as long as his legs don't give out. The other day the 2 of us went to see a couple of friends and it was much needed. It felt like things were semi normal again, even just for the couple of hours we were there.

I wouldn't hesitate to say that this whole situation has made Drew and I closer than ever. I wouldn't wish it upon anyone but it truly has made us stronger and made me fall in love with him even more. We're waiting to hear if Mayo Clinic is going to accept him as a patient. Hopefully they do and they can get some more answers for us. We should hear back any day now. Thank you guys for all of the love and support! I can't tell you how much it means every time someone drops off food or just shoots a text. So very much appreciated!

**I'll post this on FB too since not everyone checks the caring bridge.
