Journal entry by Christina Savin

This Sunday, August 28th at around 11:00 am Pacific Time, there will be a short, public memorial service for Douglas P. Savin at First Presbyterian Church of Cottage Grove, Oregon immediately following the regular church service (which begins at 10:00 am). The link below is good for both service at 10:00 am and the memorial at 11:00 am (so if you log on early, you likely aren't missing anything except the church service before). All times are Pacific. Doug's memorial will also be recorded and I will post that link when the video is available.
I'm posting all of the online info for people who are far away, but if you're in the area, you are welcome to join in-person. There will also be a separate, shorter military service at the Veterans cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona. This will be happening later in the fall. Doug's mother is planning this event. I will post more information about that when I have it. Also, if you have a Doug story you would like to share for Sunday, but you aren't able to be there, my email address is ccsavin@gmail.com. (I'll probably only be checking email through Saturday night.)
And, if none of this works for you, I'm really sorry. Doug's mom is visiting for the first time in almost 2 years and this works best for us right now. Doug loved being the center of attention and loved sharing stories of all of his friends and family. So, if you've ever shared a story about Doug, he is alive and with you in that way. Of course, it's nothing like the actual Doug. Nothing and no one ever will be!
