Douglas’s Story

Site created on August 18, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. Douglas is 10 years olds and has a very serious case of Sickle Cell Anemia.  He will be undergoing a bone marrow transplant. The bone marrow donor will be his little sister DeShyia who is 9.  Douglas will begin the bone marrow process on October 11, 2018 in St. Louis, Mo. with the transplant scheduled for November 1, 2018. Douglas has a long road to recovery but with this procedure the doctor's believe he can have a normal life. We appreciate your support, donations, and words of hope and encouragement.  If you would like to make a contribution to the cost of the families travel, housing and other expenses for the next several months, please click on ways to help and donate to his gofundme page. Thank you for visiting.

Journal entry by Theresia Davis

Good afternoon - Just wanted to give an update. Douglas went through surgery with flying colors. He went home on Tuesday and sang in the choir and praise danced on Easter Sunday. GOD is AWESOME and we are so thankful that Douglas knows it, and reminds us everyday with his grace and humility. Continue to keep Douglas and the family in your prayers.

Blessings!
