Journal entry by Emily Sawyer

Hi everyone!
Dad had a good follow up appointment at Baptist yesterday! He was able to ask a lot of questions and get a better understanding of life going forward. His labs are looking good and his white cell count has returned to normal. Another type of white cells, called Eosinophils, are still a bit high but are coming down steadily. He is scheduled to stop his antibiotics and get his PICC line out on Monday (yay!!!). Going forward, he will still need to be on blood pressure medication for an indefinite amount of time. He has been cleared to drive and to go back to work, in limited quantities and according to his energy levels. He does have a few restrictions, which he was a little bummed about. He should not lift more than 50lbs, cannot shoot a gun, and cannot ride his motorcycle, all for at least another 3 months. These are downsides, but we are still grateful for how blessed he has been thus far and how much is able to do going forward. This has been such a major life event, and not something he will just bounce back 100% from right away, as much as he would like that to be the case. But he is progressing better than we, or the doctors, ever expected and this whole ordeal has been nothing but evidence of God's grace in our lives. Thank you for supporting us through these really tough weeks and continuing to support him as he recovers long-term. We love you guys!
