Blake, thank you for sharing this. I think about you all often and it was so good to hear from you. We heard a beautiful tribute to your dad on KFSI today, and it was a sad, yet beautiful way to start the day. I’m so sorry for your loss a year ago, and all the losses since.
My memories of your dad make me smile. He sure loved his family and was so proud of you all! He drove all the way to Kasson to watch Jack’s football game...just because he was a youth group kid. He genuinely wanted to connect with people and was so sincere! So much joy too. I don’t remember ever seeing him at church not smiling. Will keep lifting you all up!
Tara Lee, Blake and Breea,
My thoughts and prayers are with you on this day, as you remember Doug and all the good things. May God, out of His loving compassion, continue to provide you strength.
Blake, I am thankful for your journal entries. Thank you also for your honest heart. Grieving and loss are for a lifetime, although the manifestations change as the years go by. I am praying for our God's evident comfort, mercy, and grace for your family during this coming year number two of missing him. A note of thankfulness: Sometime in the year after my husband died, Doug visited my yard and worked his weed- killing magic, just as he did at Schaeffer for many years. He saw needs( and weeds!) and attacked them! I am thankful for Doug's life. Many will be in heaven due in part to Doug's ministry.
The Home Federal family misses him dearly. It's barely 8:00 and I've already been reminiscing with several coworkers about his jokes, his stories, his joy. We are celebrating his life this afternoon by sharing Blue Bunny ice cream together. Thank you for sharing him with us. 💜
Oh my goodness, I love these photos... And the KFSI story, haha! The Nagels will definitely be wearing purple and tuning into his favorite station on March 10. Love you all!
