Doreen’s Story

Site created on December 7, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. Doreen has been diagnosed with leukemia.  We are still awaiting the biopsy for the exact type but the doctors say that all signs point to a fast acting variety.  She will be receiving chemotherapy and physical therapy while spending the month of December in the St. Cloud Hospital.  Prayers and words of encouragement are always welcomed!

Journal entry by Sarah Wennerberg

Its hard to believe that one year ago today I wrote my last post.  It has been quite a year and one that we will never forget.  It was a year of firsts without Mom and Grandma.  Ean lost more teeth, grew a few inches and completed another grade of elementary school.  Iden started pre school (Doreen's favorite age) and finished it.  He also grew a few inches and gained so much knowledge from his year in school.  I can only imagine if she was here how proud she would have been.  I hear "I really miss Grandma" a lot these days.  We talk about the fun things we were able to do with her, her funny jokes and her amazing cooking.  Along with that, we talk about the things she missed and how much fun she would have had if she was here with us.  Every once in a while I still hear Iden tell someone, "My Grandma died."  In that moment, my heart shatters to know that she was taken so young and that she isn't here with us, but never missing a beat Ean always reminds us, "but she is in Heaven with Jesus and Grandpa John and we get to see her again!"  Its amazing that God's promise of eternal life stands so true in such a young person.  We all grew a little older, a little wiser, and maybe even a little grayer in the past year but make sure to keep her memory alive in everything we do.  Thank you all for the love, prayers and support over the past 18 months.  Although it seems like so long, it is just a drop in the bucket for what we still have to live in our earthly bodies and our Heavenly eternity.
