Newest Update

Journal entry by Karen Weiss

I haven't posted here in a long while, because Donnie has been doing so well.  However, I think it is time to do a little update with everyone - and this just seems to be the easiest way at the time.  Donnie has made great strides, and those who have seen him and talked with him, know how much better he has done over the last few months.  However, he is at a point now where he is starting to step back a little bit.  He is having a little bit more difficulty breathing and keeping his O2 sats up.  He really needs a daily  inhaler, but they are so expensive, upward of $300 a month.  We contacted blue cross and they suggested we try using a coupon through Good Rx that would get it cash out of pocket for a little over $90.  We can do that, but $90 a month is still a good chunk of change when you are living on my income alone.  Donnie's pension will not start until September or October and his disability, IF it is approved, won't start until October.

For those who do not know, Donnie was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure in late April.  So we are trying to manage both the disease of the lungs, but also the Heart failure.  This means lots of doctors appointments, therapies, pulmonary rehab and medications.  CoVid has wreaked havoc on our family and it is heartbreaking to see my big, strong husband struggling to open a lid because of the nerve damage in his hands, or to walk because of the pain in his legs, or because he has trouble breathing.

This post was meant to be a thank you, but I got carried away.  I just want to say thank you to everyone who has prayed for us, helped us in any way and encouraged each of us along the way.  We still need those prayers and encouragement.  The healing process is still under way and there is still a long, long road ahead of us.  We each get so discouraged at times, and we could use your continued prayers and encouragement.  I know God has a plan for us, and we are patiently waiting for God to fill us in!

We love and appreciate you all!  God Bless You!
