As most of you know who followed my Donna's GBS journey that I am keen on acknowledging dates,  anniverseries, etc.   As my friend Pastor Alan Hlavka describes it, "A big moment junkie."   Well today is the anniversary of the morning that Donna and I walked into the emergency room at Sunnyside Kaiser and began a 4 1/2 month experience of hospitals, care centers, and rehab facilities.  

It has been 2 years in which we would never have been able to comprehend  or envision what would transpire in our lives, the McKenney family, and the world!  The last 5 months seem to have affected Donna's recovery and set her back a little. Auto immune diseases seem to be impacted by heat and  stress.  The main symptom (that is caused by delamination of the myelin sheath surrounding the axonal nerves ) continues to heal. The numbness and tingling has moved from complete body paralysis to mainly only symtoms in her feet and toes. But as mentioned her regression in stamina and strength are still concerns.   

The big things unforseen in the period of Aug.26, 2018 and Aug. 26, 2020 were;

          1,  Donna's life  threatening and life  changing  battle with Guillian Barre Syndrome. 

          2, Our son Michael would be back living in Oregon

          3,  Experiencing the joy of love and relationship with Shelley and the girls in a renewed                   way (and that she would be singing in a blues band with me!).

          4, Our Jay would be  amazingly still with us, impacting the world for God's glory.

          5, How much we would be deprived of experiencing physical visits with Josh and his                       family in California due to a world pandemic.

           6, Covid 19

           7,   I would begin a battle against prostate cancer this past June.

But as Zach Williams and Dolly Parton say......"And there was Jesus"!  Donna fondly quotes the scripture, "we make our plans but God directs our paths" (Prov. 16:9). And in this faith walk of uncertainties, surprises, and unknowns He is in control and Jesus is always present.

 What will the next 2 years bring (or the next 2 minutes), we are  confident it will be the Father's perfect, loving and sovereign plan.
