Donald’s Story

Site created on September 6, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Dad was rushed into emergency surgery yesterday morning. We were unsure of exactly what the issue was but initially they thought a ruptured bowel . When they got in there they found his gallbladder was dead as well as his ulcer had opened and leaked out some infection. They were able to clean it out and remove his gallbladder. I will keep this updated as we get more news .

Journal entry by Shelly Evans

Yesterday was a roller coaster. We met at 2 with the surgical team  to discuss the options. The patch they put over the ulcer has opened up and he is leaking infection. We have 2 options, do surgery or bring dad home and let him be around all of us one last time . Either option is scary because it means either saying goodbye now or surgery and worrying about the complications of that . We keep asking dad what he wants and he’s unsure . I know he’s a fighter but I also know he’s tired . We are letting him gauge what direction he wants to go .  I know that we all want him to stay but I also know we can’t be selfish . He would stay just to keep us from pain , he would suffer so that we didn’t have to . Keep my dad in your prayers.
